SouperChef Anna’s Message | Be Fit and Fab 2019
Greetings from all of us here at The Soup Spoon! We trust that the Lunar New Year has been a feast-ive one for you! Our family was very blessed to be able to usher in the Year of the Pig with our extended family in Xiamen! And how we partied! When I look back at my Instagram posts of the homemade oyster omelette with extra starch and eggs, white fungus soup with chewy taro balls and coconut mango pudding, I really wish I had The Soup Spoon’s High Pressure Processing (HPP) machine in Xiamen to seal and ship back these goodies to enjoy for a long time to come!
I’m not one to obsess about every single calorie consumed and every single calorie burned — it’s a blessing to eat, drink and be merry! But it’s also equally important to not overindulge and know when it’s a celebratory meal and when it’s time to cut back. So here’s a list of simple do’s and don’ts I’ve gathered from my readings and training:
DON’Ts
Don’t constantly worry about putting on weight. Don’t starve yourself before or after the holidays. Don’t weigh yourself constantly, especially after a heavy meal. Don’t berate yourself for enjoying your festive snacks. Don’t give up on your clean eating lifestyle just because of a few feasts during the festivities. Don’t count calories and if you must, don’t obsess over the numbers.
DOs
Do however, be grateful for the abundance of food and count your blessings instead of your calories. Do practise moderation wherever possible. Do keep up with your workouts, hydration and sleep. Do make healthy eating your lifestyle and not as an after-holiday diet regime. Do surround yourself with healthy snacks and meals to keep exposure to processed and junk food to the minimal.
