SouperChef Anna’s Message | Memories On The Table (Travel Series)
It’s nearly midnight. I’m jetlagged from the recent work trips, a little hungry but pulsating with energy. That’s what travelling does to me. A grand dose of inspirations and reflections, a keen longing to bring their historical and heartwarming stories to a wider audience. And that deep desire to tuck into those street or home-cooked foods again, those meals that felt like a warm hug in the cold.
Here then is a celebration of the culinary forces and the kindred ties that bind even when I’m miles and oceans away from home. While many remember their trips by albums of crystal clear photos, shopping bags of mementoes, handwritten journals and yellowing but meaningful train ride tickets, I choose to reminisce the way I best know how – creating recipes and putting my memories on the table.
So this month, I warmly invite you to revisit three of my flavour-ite interpretations of my travels to Italy, USA and Bhutan, and savour these Memories On The Table with me. Oftentimes, I find that my best meals are centred around humble themes rather than haute cuisine, and I’m thankful to have my life and palate enriched by these heritage foods, their background stories and the hospitality from my country hosts that I have been so blessed to receive. Enjoy these SouperChef Specials, from the world, to our kitchen, to you.
xx
